WHAT I WORE: Aspen
Howdy!! So if you follow me on Instagram, you are well aware that I was LIVING my best life in Aspen, Colorado last weekend. I would like to start off by explaining how much I underestimated this little firecracker of a city, and how CLUELESS I was on how to dress while there. Lets be real… when it comes to MY style, I live for pushing boundaries, & being edgy, sexy, etc. So, no matter how tame I thought my outfits were, I still felt too “scandy” and seemed to stick out like a sore thumb. If you are like me, PLEASE read this blog so I can help you not make the same mistakes I did when packing for a weekend in ASPEN. lol.
But FIRST,
Why was I in Aspen in the first place? I went to a wedding! Where I knew literally no one, but Payton, who convinced her date to find me a date so I could go with her.
Iconic.
So what did I think of Aspen?
The aesthetic 11/10. Every single corner of Aspen is GORGEOUS. Blogger heaven, if you will. It is so clean and well thought out. Plus, the buildings all coordinate perfectly. It’s like I stepped back in time to a newly, renovated. rich ass, western, town. Idk if that makes sense. Also, everything is walking distance. like .2-.3 miles. We took one taxi to and from the airport! This was probably my favorite thing about Aspen.
The shopping 11/10. So as I was saying, the outside of the city looks humble, southern, practical, sweet, BUT ON THE INSIDE? Name a high end designer? they’ve got it. Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Rolex, etc., the list does not end!! They also have stores like Free People, Intermix, Other Stories, etc. for us “bargain shoppers”. Amongst all of these, there are the most expensive and gorgeous FUR shops I have ever seen. Finally, to top it all off there is (from what I learned) an Aspen tradition to buy an extremely over-priced Stetson Cowboy hat from a shop called Kemo Sabe. Which we did and didn’t take the hats off for the rest of the weekend. Yeehaw.
The nightlife 11/10. On the bumpiest and shortest flight of my life (from Denver to CO), I sat next to a guy from New Zealand who told me Aspen is the poshest and craziest city he has ever been to. All I am going to say about this is that my lights were on, but NO ONE WAS HOME the entire weekend. Y’all, this is not to big dick anyone, but I have fucking partied in SOME spots; Vegas, Miami, Ibiza, New York, Barcelona, Mykonos, etc., and this little city CAN KEEP UP. (this might have had to do with the crew we were with) but nonetheless i’m still hungover and will never be drinking again.
The weather 10/10. Just unreal. Perfect fall weather. Not humid. Not too sunny. It was 65-75 during the day and at night it dropped to about 45-50. However, when we are on top of Aspen Mountain it was freezing tits, 30 degrees (which is why I had to buy a FUR for the wedding). My allergies were acting up so bring the Claritin and be cautious of the elevation changes when you first get there. I recommend drinking a ton of water to help with headaches and be mindful when you are that high up, you get drunker faster, so limit the alcohol intake and don’t be surprised when after two tequila sodas you’re in full on party meg mode.
Couple other tips when traveling to aspen:
BEARS ARE A THING. We saw cops dealing with bears almost every night we were out.
Weed is legal but you can’t smoke it on the street like you can in California
This city is expensive as FUCK. This is where the B’s vacation (billionaires- term I learned this weekend)
ANYWAYS…
So what I wore in ASPEN:
The first night we went to a hat store called Kemo Sabe and I wore this House of Harlow x Revolve Jaya Crop with my NEW FAVORITE Levis Jeans. I am obsessed with this entire outfit!!!! The cut of the shirt is so different and I love the shoulders so much. Payton and I ended up getting matching black Stetson hats! SO CUTE, nowhere to wear them now though. lolz.
I feel like I really took the essence of a grande pumpkin spice latte in this outfit. This was the ONLY sweater I brought lol and I really wish I would have packed more, ugh. So, I paired the Laura Sweater with the Tia Short both from Lover+Friends, and the shades are called RUMY by mymymy, all from Revolve!
I really thought my wedding outfit was going to be the one style I nailed, but then I was informed that it was going to be 30 degrees at the the top of Aspen Mountain and everyone BUT ME, brought their “furs” to wear. Luckily, I found this amazing Lorie Faux Fur Jacket from Intermix in town and paired it with my NBD Princess Bride Gown in black from Revolve. A true mob wives inspired look that I couldn’t be more HERE for.
In conclusion, I HIGHLY recommend visiting Aspen, Colorado!!! IF you want more recs on where to eat, stay, and what to do head over to my girl Payton’s Blog here.
